Can TV translate to web?
A new survey has discovered that internet users would like to see television adverts online. The findings shed new light on the effectiveness of the 30-second slot, which had been previously thought to be of little use on the internet. TV ads were found to be slightly more popular than viral marketing, said the survey.

Direct Result
Direct mail is more favoured than email by consumers because they see it as less intrusive. They are more likely to respond to a piece of direct mail, says Pitney Bowes, also finding it more convenient. Seventy-three per cent of respondents said they "preferred receiving direct mail about new products".

A loyalty scheme aimed at people who visit the gym has won the support of retailers including Marks & Spencer, Waitrose, Comet and Carphone Warehouse. Members of Gym Miles will receive points when they use their gym, which can then be spent in the 100+ stores that are partnering the scheme.

Seen any good films lately?
If you aren't a film lover, you might be missing out on career opportunities. Watching films could give a better understanding of human behaviour than undertaking a management course, say four Italian management consultants who have written Cinema for Managers. They recommend Stephen Spielberg's The Terminal, among other films, and say that watching John Wayne westerns will give insight into "leadership, mission and loneliness at the top".

New concept for wine
A new wine from Italy is to launch in the UK, but it is the packaging that is most likely to catch our attention. The wine is packaged in a 'bag-in-tube' format, designed to be carried over one's shoulder like a handbag. "We think Piccanti could become the next Italian must-have accessory," says Brand Manager Paul Shelton.
